The Regional Jet Center performs its operations in Hangar 73 at Schiphol-East and on the apron at Schiphol-Center.
At Schiphol-Center the Regional Jet Center has two locations:
- B18 houses a command post.
- location B31 houses our storage aircraft spare parts, tooling & equipment and dangerous goods.
About the hangar of the Regional Jet Center
Hangar 73 is equipped according to the most modern legislation in the field of occupational safety and environmental regulations. In addition, the hangar has modern technical facilities. Some interesting figures:
Dimensions and surfaces
- The hangar is approximately 250 meters wide, 60 meters deep and 18 meters high.
- 10 hangar doors, each measuring 28 meters wide and 12 meters high.
- The center store (warehouse) has an area of 350 m².
- The main store (warehouse for incoming and outgoing suppliers) has an area of 500 m².
Aircraft stands
- As many as 10 aircraft stands (VOPs) are available inside.
- On the platform in front of the hangar there are 6 aircraft stands. The platform also has its own test stand.
Workshops
- In the hangar we have 7 different workshops: • Engine Workshop Maintains, inspects and repairs engines and APUs. Also works on end of lease projects. • Interior Workshop Cares for the interior of your aircraft. From seats to cargo nets, galley to lavatory. • Sheet Metal Workshop Ensures that the airworthiness of parts is restored to the highest level. This is done in close cooperation with the OEMs. • In-house paint shop Performs repairs end-to-end. This ensures that the turnaround time of repairs is kept as short as possible. • Electric workshop Repairs and maintains all kinds of electrical components: furnaces, water heaters, wiring, and so on. • Cleaning • Tooling & Equipment
- And 4 specific rooms: the spray booth, the sanding booth, the machining room of the sheet metal shop and the glue room.
Technical facilities
- Divided over the hangar floor are 11 basements full of modern utilities.
- Thus there are 6 electrical ground power units including 22 floor wells with 115V 400Hz, explosion-proof electrical power supplies, sufficient ground points, compressed air, hull ventilation.
- Also there are 5 explosion proof standalone tank extractors spread over the 10 VOPs.
- The hangar has several overhead cranes. Two in the hangar bays of 3200 pounds each.
- The engine shop is equipped with its own 1600 kg overhead crane.
- The hangar is equipped with bay and office LED lighting; this easily provides 500 Lux of brightness at the workplace. The facade lighting in front of the platform is also equipped with LED lighting.
- The bays are equipped with a conditioned air ventilation system with a refreshment rate of 200,000 m³/hour.
Safety
- The entire hangar is equipped with a fully automatic fire detection and sprinkler fire extinguishing system with 10 fire extinguishers distributed throughout the VOPs, each with 1,000 liters of extinguishing foam. The office area, basements (archive) and technical areas also have a fully automated sprinkler system. In addition, the hangar has a slow whoop evacuation system, extensive evacuation plans and escape facilities, a well-trained FAFS organization with direct connection to the Schiphol Fire Department and a large evacuation assembly area outside on the platform.
